Most people know about Pinterest by now. It’s a really cool website where you can “pin” items to different “boards” to organize recipes, design, crafts, ideas, pretty much anything from the web that you want to save. Whether it’s to make you smile or so you can have a quick reference to one of the aforementioned topics.
I LOVE it for recipes. I don’t know how many times I find a recipe online and then cannot find it again when it’s time to actually cook/bake said recipe. I love it for recipes. I also love it for craft ideas, for the same reason.
My predicament stems from the design aspect of it. I definitely have a “board” to organize different designs, projects, paint colors for this new, awesome house we’ve moved into. Plus I’ve got all kinds of things pinned for nursery ideas. This is when it hit me. SO many people use Pinterest or follow the same uber popular blogs and therefore they are all starting to look the same to me. Whether it’s printables, Chevron fabrics or stripped walls, the ideas are all starting to blend.
My goal is to not. I had an idea of how I wanted the boys nursery to look but I’m not going to let the trendy, overly popular looks take precedent in this design. I’ve never been a fan of the pastel-y, baby-ish nurseries. A friend of mine did a antique sports motif (old golf clubs, baseball bats, etc) in deep blues and red and I thought that was fabulous. It’s a room that a baby can grow into a little boy. That is my intent as well. Although, I am going with a nautical theme. Navy, gray and white with deep barn red accents. I don’t want to feel obligated to change it as they get older because it’s too infantile. I think that theme will “grow” well.
Speaking of the Nuggets, they have learned to do somersaults or something because these little guys are on the move quite a bit as of recent. I’m feeling a bit more tired lately but I’m attributing it to maybe a growth spurt or something. Other than that, all is well in the baby making world.
